Deadliest Catch 1913 Crash Graphic!

In the production of the 2023 season of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, there was an unfortunate incident where the collision of two ships occurred at night. However, the producers missed capturing this event during filming. To address this, Angel City Studios was assigned the task of recreating the collision. The studio began by creating rough models of the ships, and then I took the lead in creating the remaining assets.

My responsibilities included designing stylized lighting that would enhance the scene as per the producer's instructions. I focused on creating lighting that was both simple and elegant, effectively setting the mood for the scene. Additionally, I worked on developing shaders that would bring out the desired visual effects on the ships, ensuring they appeared realistic and captivating. Another crucial element was creating wakes from the ships, adding dynamic movement and realism to the scene.

Within a tight deadline, our collaborative efforts paid off as we successfully recreated the collision of the two ships. It was essential for us to ensure that the recreated scene seamlessly blended with the existing footage while upholding the high production standards of the show.
